“O Holy Spirit, descend plentifully into my heart. Enlighten the dark corners of this neglected dwelling and scatter there Thy cheerful beams.”
— St. Augustine
Just as bodies and minds grow, Catholics believe that the soul also needs to grow in the life of grace. The Sacrament of Confirmation builds on the Sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and Holy Communion, completing the process of initiation into the Catholic community. In the Archdiocese of Portland, nearly every parish confirms Catholic youth in their sophomore or junior years of high school, which is when the sacrament is administered in most U.S. dioceses.
Every parish is unique, so a variety of resources are available to make the Confirmation experience the best ever.
